Students throughout the school celebrated the 100th day of school this week. From the first day of school, students begin counting the number of days they are in school, usually using popsicle sticks or another object. When they count 10 that becomes a ten bundle, learning about counting by tens and ones. This is an ideal day to have children explore with the number 100 through counting, sorting, patterning, and the use of other math skills. Teachers planned several engaging, hands on activities to engage in on this special day. Students brainstormed what they could have 100 of, beaded with 100 necklaces, made hats, and bubble gum machines with 100 pieces of bubblegum. Students were filled with excitement on this special day.
