On Wednesday, February 29th, Willmore brought together many community members and families to celebrate Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. Willmore students and families celebrated the Lunar New Year at a school wide assembly celebrating the Year of the Rat. Many of our students and staff were dressed in traditional Vietnamese attire to celebrate TET. To open the program, Chua Dieu Ngu Buddhist Temple Venerable An Minh addressed Willmore students with an inspirational message. He reminded students to do their best and to continue showing kindness today and every day throughout the year. Westminster High School's Vietnamese American Culture Club (VACC) performed numerous dances and amazed the audience with their musical drums. The highlight was the famous Lion Dance during which students were able to feed the lion with "li xi," the lucky money inside traditional red envelopes. Many thanks to classroom teachers Alice Wang and Judy Nguyen, our community liaison Tuyet Nguyen, and the many families who organized this beautiful Tet Celebration.
