Greetings Willmore Families,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new principal of Willmore Elementary School. I have heard wonderful things about the Willmore students, families, and staff. I am looking forward to meeting each of you at the beginning of the year and continuing to build our partnership to help prepare our students to be college and career ready. We are excited to offer our new Spanish/English Dual Language Immersion Academy in both preschool and Kindergarten this coming school year. This program will help students become bilingual and biliterate early on in life, helping to prepare them for the ever-changing 21st century global economy. As we prepare for another amazing school year, I want to take this opportunity to welcome you and tell you a little about myself.
With experience as an educator in the Los Angeles Unified School District, I have served in a wide range of capacities, both inside and outside of the classroom. My years in education have given me the opportunity to work as an elementary classroom teacher, and a Mathematics Instructional Coach and Intervention Coordinator at both the elementary and secondary levels. Prior to this position, I served as the Assistant Principal at Meairs Elementary School in the Westminster School District. On a personal note, I am married and have two great children: my son is going into 4th grade and my daughter is going into 2nd grade. We enjoy traveling, playing/watching sports, and going to the beach as a family.
At Willmore, we set high expectations for all of our students, giving them the best instruction in a safe, supportive learning environment. We will continue to integrate technology in our classrooms to support 21st century learning with the district's 1:1 Chromebook initiative in grades 2-5. Our school implements the following technology components: ST MIND Math, Accelerated Reader, and Imagine Learning. Let's continue to make Willmore Elementary School a place of educational excellence, where all children can be successful. This is where we will "build tomorrow's leaders today". Having a strong home-school connection is a key factor in building success at school. Family and community involvement are valued here at Willmore. I recognize the importance of effective communication and community partnerships to support our students. I look forward to seeing you on our first day of school on Thursday, September 1st. Respect, effort, and pride and the Willmore Creed help to support the positive atmosphere here on campus, making Willmore a great place to be. On behalf of the entire Willmore team, I look forward to working with you! Please continue to check our website for updates.
