The entire Willmore community came together to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! The Cinco de Mayo Celebration Program included performances by folklorico dancers as well as acts performed by our very own Willmore students. Upper grade students explained the history of Cinco de Mayo and described the significance of the Mexican flag and the piñata. They also performed a song about the Battle of Puebla. The assembly would not be complete without performances by our Spanish Dual Immersion classes. Our Kindergarten Dual Immersion class beautifully sang "Los Pollitos Dicen," and the crowd went wild when the Preschool Dual Immersion class danced "La Raspa!"
Our school was honored to host Westminster School District Assistant Superintendent Dr. Cyndi Paik and Executive Director of Early Education Beverlee Mathenia at this year's program. Many thanks to all of the performers and especially Willmore Spanish community liaison Aida Ocampo who organized the show.
