Our Kindergarten and Preschool Dual Family Literacy Nights were a great success. At the Kindergarten Literacy Night, we gave the time for families to connect with other dual language families, learn more about language acquisition, participate in team building activities, share and enjoy a potluck dinner, understand the literacy components of reading in two languages, have an opportunity to win prizes, ask questions, and learn about Pathways to Biliteracy. Parents shared stories of their children in the dual program and it was great to hear all of the successes taking place.
At the Preschool Dual Literacy Night, the students received a surprise visit from Minney Mouse. Mrs. Alvarez read to her students and they listened to reading in both Spanish and English. Additionally, students created an art project for Valentine's Day. Parents gained valuable information about the importance of language acquisition and the value of learning Spanish at a young age! They are excited to see their children learning how to understand the language.
